DESMAN garage wins Best Parking Structure in 2013 PCI Design Awards

Hartford Hospital - Hudson Street Employee Parking Garage

DESMAN’s Hartford Hospital – Hudson Street Employee Parking Garage in Hartford, CT received the honor of Best Parking Structure (900+ cars) in the 2013 Design Awards by the PCI (Precast / Prestressed Concrete Institute). DESMAN served as Architect and Engineer of Record, consulting with Perkins+Will who developed the exterior facade design.

The 9-level highly articulated parking structure provides parking for 1,200 Hartford Hospital employees and neighborhood parkers with special passes. Articulated precast panels, mesh screening and terra cotta colored perforated metal panels form the exterior facade. The facility is connected on an upper floor to an adjacent hospital building by an overhead pedestrian bridge/walkway system. There are electric vehicle charging stations and bike racks are located at grade along with a 5,500 square foot exercise facility.

This is an exciting win as DESMAN has been providing professional services to Hartford Hospital for over 20 years in planning design and maintaining its parking expansion, system and structures. Congratulations to Norm Goldman (Project Executive, Hartford office), Tim Andre (Project Manager / Designer, Hartford office), Tom Basile (Architect of Record, New York office), Joe Clark (Engineer of Record, Hartford office), Arlyn Agasino (Structural Job Captain, Hartford office), and Beau Deprey (Architectural Job Captain, Hartford office) for all of their hard work on Hartford Hospital – Hudson Street Employee Parking Garage!

The project is featured on PCI’s website.
