Description: This four-level, 825-car parking deck, built in 1961, is located on the campus of the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio. The structural system of the parking deck consists of a lightweight cast-in-place concrete sandwich slab with a protected membrane supported by steel columns and beams. Levels 1, 2, and 3 were rehabilitated.

A thorough condition assessment was completed. The condition assessment report was presented to the University of Akron, and a repair plan was adopted to rehabilitate Levels 1, 2, and 3. The garage restoration work consisted of partial and/or full depth replacement of deteriorated portions of the structural slabs and repair and coating of the structural steel columns and beams. The lighting, mechanical, and drainage systems were also upgraded. Bid documents were prepared, and bids were solicited from contractors. DESMAN performed the construction administration.
