Features: Condition assessment of all the University’s existing parking structures; No. 1 through No. 5. Criteria include recommendations for immediate repairs (within one year) and longer term (5 years).
Description: In 1998, DESMAN performed a comprehensive condition assessment on the University of Kentucky’s Parking Structure No. 1 and No. 2 at the Lexington Campus. The assessment included implementation of a concrete testing program, visual observation and mechanical soundings of the concrete structural elements, life cycle cost analysis and development of a repair program for a 25 year life span; all of which was included within a comprehensive report to the University. Both parking structures were later repaired based on DESMAN’s established repair and preventative maintenance program.
Starting in 2004, on an annual basis, DESMAN has been performing a similar condition assessment of all of the University’s existing parking structures; No. 1 through No. 5. Criteria include recommendations for immediate repairs (within one year) and longer term (5 years). This allows the University to establish Capital funds for repairs and preventative maintenance on an annual basis for their Five Year Capital Planning Program.
